The legacy that created 8850 began on August 8, 1950 with the opening of the first Whataburger, which would become one of Texas’ favorite restaurants. Over the next seven decades, both the family and businesses grew and shared that success with their surrounding communities through grants, scholarships, and career opportunities.
In 2012, the company known today as Las Aguilas was created to focus on growth and developing sustainable, thriving businesses. 8850 was created in 2017 to support the family with a broad array of services. In 2019, the enterprise established the Tres Grace Family Foundation to enhance communities in meaningful ways. These three pillars make up the core of an integrated family enterprise that creates impact and makes a positive difference in people’s lives.
